The whole family goes to the park to fly a kite over the weekend. Dad promises to send it up high, but the kite keeps falling — until everyone runs together and it finally takes off.
Sunday Morning
On Sunday morning, Dingding woke up bright and early.
Dingding
Dad, you said you'd take me to the park to fly a kite today!
Dad
I didn't forget. Look — the kite's right here in my hand.
Dingding carried the red kite, smiling the whole way there.
The Kite Won't Fly
There weren't many people in the park, and the wind on the grass was strong.
Dad
Watch closely — I'll make it fly the highest of all!
But the kite had barely lifted off before it dropped back to the ground.
Dingding
Dad, didn't you say it would fly the highest?
Running Together
Mom said with a smile that if all three of them ran together, the kite would go up.
Holding hands, they started running across the grass.
Dingding
It's flying! It's really up high now!
The red kite hung in the sky, while the whole family ran until they were soaked in sweat.
