Early in the morning Mom heads to the market, set on buying apples for her son. The red apples look delicious but cost a bit much, so Mom and the vendor end up in a fun little round of haggling.
Early Morning at the Market
早上七点，妈妈就到了。
By seven in the morning, Mom had already arrived at the market.
人很多，大家说话的声音也很大。
It was packed with people, and everyone was talking loudly.
妈妈看见一家，红红的很好看。
Mom spotted a fruit stand, and the bright red apples looked lovely.
Haggling

老板，这种多少钱一呀？
Excuse me, how much are these apples per pound?
Vendor
五块一，今天早上刚到的，可了。
Five yuan a pound. They came in just this morning, and they're really sweet.
Mom
有点儿呢，我要两，点儿行吗？
That's a bit pricey. I'll take two pounds—could you knock the price down a little?
Vendor
好吧好吧，给你算四块五一！
All right, all right—I'll give them to you at four-fifty a pound!
Back Home
妈妈拿着两，笑着回家了。
Carrying her two pounds of apples, Mom headed home with a smile.
Mom
儿子，你看，妈妈给你买了大！
Son, look—Mom bought you some big apples!
Son
哇，又大又红！妈妈，我要吃一个！
Wow, so big and so red! Mom, I want to eat one!
妈妈洗了一个，看着他大口大口地吃。
Mom washed an apple and watched him gobble it down in big bites.
