Every morning Grandpa brews his tea and opens the newspaper. Today his granddaughter is planning a weekend trip up the mountain, but Grandpa's paper has something else to say.
Early morning at home
At seven in the morning, Grandpa sat by the table, a newspaper in one hand and a cup of tea in the other.
Granddaughter
Morning, Grandpa! What are you reading?
Grandpa
The newspaper, of course. Come, sit down and have some tea.
Granddaughter
Is there any news today?
A small line in the paper
Grandpa
Look right here — it's going to rain tomorrow, and the weather is turning cold too.
Granddaughter
Oh? Then I'll have to wear an extra layer tomorrow.
Granddaughter
But this weekend I want to go up the mountain with my classmates.
Grandpa
The paper also says it's best not to go up the mountain these next few days.
She understands
Granddaughter
Why is that? If it rains, I can just bring an umbrella.
Grandpa
When it rains, the mountain paths get very slippery — it's not safe.
Granddaughter
All right, we'll go another day then. Grandpa, your newspaper really is useful!
Grandpa smiled and took a sip of tea. This newspaper — he had been reading it for thirty years.
