On Monday morning, Wang Li and Zhang Ming open their calendar and find a week packed wall to wall. They have to scramble to reschedule a meeting and still get the report in before the deadline.
Scene 1: Monday Morning, Opening the Calendar
Eight o'clock on Monday morning, and the smell of coffee still hadn't faded from the office.
Wang Li
Don't sit down yet, come take a look at this week's schedule. It's making me a little nervous.
Zhang Ming
What's wrong? Mondays are usually the easiest, aren't they?
Wang Li
See for yourself, meetings, the report, the client, they're all crammed into the same week.
Zhang Ming
Take it easy, one thing at a time. Let's pull out the trickiest one first.
Scene 2: Wednesday's Meeting Clashes with the Boss's Schedule
Zhang Ming
We've got the client meeting at three on Wednesday afternoon, but the manager has a business trip that morning.
Wang Li
Will he make it back in time? Without him there's no way we can sign this contract.
Zhang Ming
I just checked, his flight doesn't land until two thirty. Three o'clock is definitely cutting it too close.
Wang Li
Then let's push it back half an hour, move it to three thirty, and give him a little room to breathe.
Zhang Ming
Sure, I'll let everyone know right away. Oh, and remind them to bring all the contracts.
Scene 3: So What About the Report?
Zhang Ming
The headache is that report, it's due Friday at six in the evening, and I haven't written a single word.
Wang Li
Not a single word?! You've been swamped with the meeting stuff these past couple of days, haven't you.
Zhang Ming
Yeah... so I'm planning to switch off my phone every afternoon and force myself to carve out two hours to write.
Wang Li
Then leave the data to me, I'll double-check that last section for you, you just focus on writing.
Zhang Ming
Hearing you say that puts me a lot more at ease. Honestly, thank you.
Scene 4: Friday Night, Hitting Send
At five fifty on Friday evening, Zhang Ming sent off the report and leaned back into his chair.
Wang Li
Ten minutes to the deadline, that scared me half to death. The client wrote back too and said they're happy with it.
Zhang Ming
This week wore me out so much I even forgot to eat, but somehow I made it through.
Wang Li
Next week's schedule can wait till tomorrow. Tonight, don't think about anything, let's go grab a bowl of hot noodle soup first.
