数量短语

Quantity phrases

Explanation

In Chinese, when talking about the quantity of a thing, we use the structure: number + measure word + noun. For example: '一个' (one [item]), '两杯' (two cups), '三本' (three [books]), '四包' (four packets), '五块' (five pieces/chunks). The measure word changes depending on the type of thing being counted, for example '个' is for general objects, '杯' is for cups/glasses, '本' is for books/notebooks, '包' is for packets, '块' is for pieces/chunks.
