Explanation
This type of sentence has two verbs occurring in sequence in chronological order. In case 1, the first verb expresses the manner in which the second verb is carried out, e.g.: 'he speaks while laughing'. In case 2, the second verb is the purpose of the first verb, e.g.: 'going to the supermarket' is the purpose of 'buying fruit'. The common structure is 'verb 1 + verb 2'.
