动宾式离合词:帮忙、点头、放假、干杯、见面、结婚、看病、睡觉、洗澡、理发、说话
Verb-object separable words (离合词)
Explanation
These are a group of Chinese words whose structure resembles verb (V) + noun (O), but which can be split apart to insert other elements. For example, '帮忙' (to help) can be said as '帮我的忙' (help me). Unlike ordinary verbs, you can insert particles, quantities, etc. between the V and the O parts, such as '点了一下儿头' (nodded the head a bit), '见过一次面' (met once). When using them, note that they usually cannot take a direct object afterward, but must repeat the O part or use the split-apart structure.
