The structure '一面...一面...' (while...also...)
Explanation
一面……一面…… (yímiàn……yímiàn……) is a pair of conjunctions (words linking clauses) in a compound sentence (a sentence with two or more clauses), meaning 'while... at the same time...', used to describe two actions of the same subject occurring simultaneously.
Subject (the performer) + 一面 (yímiàn) + verb 1 + ,一面 (yímiàn) + verb 2; the two clauses share the same subject.
when emphasizing two things done in parallel at the same time; 一面……一面…… carries a written nuance (in books and documents), more formal than the colloquial 一边……一边…… (yìbiān……yìbiān……).
一面……一面…… and 一边……一边…… both mean 'while... at the same time...', but 一边 is natural in conversation, whereas 一面 fits written language; their meaning and usage are basically the same.
using it for two different subjects (this structure requires the same subject to do both things); and using 一面 in only one clause while forgetting to repeat it in the other.
