Grammar

Comparing two things/people

A + 比 + B + 形容词 (一点儿/一些)

This structure is used to compare two things or two people. Put noun A first, then 比, then noun B, and finally the adjective. You can add 一点儿 or 一些 to soften the degree of comparison.

这个房间比那个房间干净一些。

zhègefángjiānbǐnàgefángjiāngānjìngyìxiē。

This room is a bit cleaner than that one.

今天比昨天热一点儿。

jīntiānbǐzuótiānrèyìdiǎnr。

Today is a bit hotter than yesterday.

Doing something together with someone

跟 + 人 + 一起 + 动词 (短语)

This structure expresses doing something together with another person. 跟 is placed before the companion, followed by 一起, then the verb or verb phrase.

我想跟朋友一起去玩儿。

wǒxiǎnggēnpéngyouyìqǐqùwánr。

I want to go out with my friends.

明天我跟妈妈一起去买东西。

míngtiānwǒgēnmāmayìqǐqùmǎidōngxi。

Tomorrow I'm going shopping together with my mom.
