HSK 2
基本结构类型
Basic types of phrase structures
Explanation
Chinese has several main types of phrase structures. A coordinative phrase (联合短语) consists of words placed side by side on equal footing, such as '北京上海', '我和他' (Beijing and Shanghai; he and I). An endocentric phrase (偏正短语) has a modifying part (usually an adjective or adverb) that supplements the head, such as '新衣服' (new clothes), '认真学习' (study diligently). A verb-object phrase (动宾短语) consists of a verb and the object it governs, for example '看书' (read a book), '吃饭' (eat a meal).
