Explanation

This is a sentence structure used when you want to specify 'to whom' and 'what'. The common structure is: subject + verb + recipient (object 1) + thing given (object 2). For example: 'I gave my younger sister a book'. In addition, you can add '给' to emphasize the act of giving: 'subject + verb + 给 + recipient + thing given'.
