范围副词:全、一共、只
fàn wéi fù cí : quán 、 yí gòng 、 zhǐ
Adverbs of scope and scope: 全, 一共, 只
Explanation
全 (quán), 一共 (yígòng), and 只 (zhǐ) are adverbs (words that modify a verb or an adjective) of scope, placed before the verb to indicate how many objects the action covers.
Subject (the person or thing performing the action, at the start of the sentence) + 全/一共/只 + Verb.
同学们全来了 (The classmates all came).
全 quán stresses 'the whole, all' members doing the action; 一共 yígòng is used to total things up, stating a sum (usually with a number); 只 zhǐ limits the scope, meaning 'only', less than expected.
全 quán and 都 dōu both mean 'all', but 一共 yígòng is specifically for stating a countable TOTAL, while 全 stresses 'no one/nothing left out'.
只 is read 'zhǐ' when it means 'only'; it is read 'zhī' when used as a measure word (a unit-counting word) for animals (一只猫 - one cat).
Vietnamese learners often place 只 zhǐ in the wrong position (it must come right before the verb or the limited quantity), and confuse 一共 with 全 when the sentence has no specific number.
