勿 (wù) - Do not, must not
Explanation
勿 (wù) is a negative adverb (a word that modifies a verb with the meaning of prohibition/advice) of classical/literary origin (an archaic, formal usage that survives in modern Chinese), meaning 'do not, don't'.
勿 (wù) + verb. For example, 勿忘 (wù wàng) = do not forget, 勿念 (wù niàn) = do not worry, 请勿吸烟 (qǐng wù xīyān) = please do not smoke.
Only in formal/written usage, signs, and correspondence (often at the end of a letter: 勿念); with a serious, polite tone. In everyday conversation people use 别 (bié) or 不要 (búyào).
勿 (wù) = archaic, formal written usage; 别 (bié) / 不要 (búyào) = everyday colloquial, with the same meaning 'don't'.
Do not add 不 or 别 before/after 勿 (wrong: 勿别忘); after 勿 there must be a verb, not a noun; avoid using 勿 in intimate conversation because it sounds too stiff.
